One of the most popular hill stations in Himachal, Manali offers the most magnificent views of the Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar ranges covered with snow for most parts of the year. This Kullu Valley town trades between adrenaline and serenity — the ancient Hadimba TempleHadimba Temple sits in a cedar forest, its pagoda roof a masterpiece of hill architecture. Upstream, the thundering Beas River carves through Solang ValleySolang Valley, a playground for paragliding, skiing, horse-riding, and zorbing. Old Manali's cobblestone lanes are lined with backpacker cafes, good wifi, and Tibetan handicraft shops, making it a favourite for workation-seekers. With the Covid-era shift, many hostels offer cheap dorm beds for longer stays. The newly opened Atal TunnelAtal Tunnel now allows travellers to reach Sissu within hours, making Spiti way more accessible. Manali has excellent trekking options, with River Beas providing great rafting in nearby Kullu. The adjoining Parvati Valley — Kasol, Manikaran, Tosh — attracts travellers for longer stays. Rohtang PassRohtang Pass is almost always covered with snow but can get crowded. It snows most in January and February, followed by December and March; if very lucky, you might find some in April.
